The Elizabethport Presbyterian Center, Inc., is a faith-based, multi-purpose, nonprofit social service agency that has been providing efficient services and programs for seniors, children, youth, and families in Elizabeth, N.J., since 1965.
The Center grew out of concern for the need to provide stability and opportunity for families - from severe poverty to self-sufficiency - in the Elizabeth neighborhood known as E'port. This oldest, most deprived area of the City suffers from all of the economic and social problems found in most inner cities.
While many of its programs focus on children and youth, a primary goal of the Center is to stabilize and strengthen families so that they will be able to cope with the difficult challenge of survival and growth in an environment with so many barriers. Therefore, our services are varied and targeted to meet the specific needs of families in this low-income community. As a result of these programs we have been able to accomplish many of the objectives we had set forth during earlier years.
Since the Elizabethport Presbyterian Center was originated by the Elizabeth Presbytery, the Center continues to operate under its supervision and is evaluated by its representatives. The Center provides services to all, regardless of race or religious affiliations.
